No matter how you slice it, this one is a ways from everything else,
so the hardest part is just getting there.
In Robbinsville NC, at the intersection of US 129 and Main Street, take Main
Street which will become NC 143 Bypass. After several miles, this will
intersect with NC 143. Alternately, you could have stayed on 129 to 143 but
this saves you a couple of miles and it is going to wind either way.
Follow the signs to Cherohala Skyway (CS).
At that point you are at about mile marker 18 on the CS.
As noted by Roy Wallen, Big Junction parking area is between mile marker 6 and 7.
As noted by Fred Lobdell, overgrown trail (old road I suspect, based on the
type of gravel) is easy to follow. I felt the HP was about 10 yards ahead and
to the right when you finally broke out into the open area at the top.
Fred's lat/long coordinates got me to within about 10 feet of the point.
About 15 minutes each way plus whatever wandering you do on top.
