From Highway 127 turn on to Koger Mountain. Stay on Koger Mt. Road until you reach Rocky Ridge
Road on the right. Follow Rocky Ridge Road uphill past a bunch of dilapidated housing. After you get
past the houses, the road makes a sharp left turn and levels out. Soon after the road levels out you will see
an old abandoned flat bed trailer. Next to the trailer is an old road that starts up the mountain if you have
a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle you can drive up this road to an abandoned strip mine. I parked my truck
here and started hiking.
After you get past the strip mine you will see another old road / ATV trail going up the mountain to the
left. Take this road up to the top of the mountain. (As I walked up this trail I noticed an old air
compressor that appears to have been there for a long time.) After you reach the top of the mountain
follow the ATV road to your left. As the ATV trail makes a 90 degree turn to the right another ATV trail
enters in form the left. The area where the two ATV trails meet is the first to the two high points (the
1780 contour). After you have claimed this high point follow the ATV trail that goes to the right. This
trail generally follows close to the edge of the mountain and also stays near the highest part of the
mountain. Following this ATV trail will take you over the highest part of the mountain.
NOTE: The roads, building, etc. that are shown on the topo map do not even closely resemble what is on
the mountain. There are many ATV, horse trails etc. all over the top of the mountain. Access is not a problem.
