an attempt
From the town of Falfurrias, go south briefly on US-281 to FM-3066 on the right (west). Turn onto FM-3066
for 2 miles, then continue west on County Road 110 another 15 miles or so. It's all paved. The map
calls this "Baluarte Creek Rd". The road will make a 90-degree left at "Los Compadres" Ranch entrance,
marked with a backwards 7. Go south about a mile. Note the 8-foot tall wire mesh fencing on your right.
Also note the dense oak/juniper/cactus scrub. Your highpoint is back in here a mile or so. Another mile
south brings you to another junction - turn right onto a sandy road. I hoped for lesser scrub and a break in
the fence but found none.
The highpoint is a "hill" of about 40 feet of prominence a mile in from the roads.
Navigating to it in this scrub would be nearly impossible. A ranch road leads near it and may be an option if
you can wrangle permission.
Backtrack the way you came in.
