Jeff Davis County High Point Trip Report
Mt Livermore
Author: Scott Surgent
The HP of Jeff Davis county in West Texas, is part of the Texas Nature Conservancy
stewardship (www.tnc.org/texas). Thus, the area around the peak is generally off-limits
to casual hikers and explorers, but once a year (maybe more often) they have a festival
at the base of the mountains with exhibitions, music, etc., and hiking is available.
I've also been on the phone with them, with the same information offered.
The website above has a recap of this past year's festival with some nice photos.
The peak is pretty impressive!
Evidently, if you want to hike to the summit of Livermore you need to join the TNC
($25 min fee, form on the website) and make sure you're out there on their "open" date,
or arrange a hike through them directly, as long as it's scientific in nature.
