Jones County High Point Trip Report

We went to an oil access road just north of a radio tower and just south of the junction of Farm Road 126 and county road 508, north of Abilene. We went in the gate, drove back 1.2 miles and parked next to an oil well. We hiked 0.85 miles west-southwest to the (six) HP areas. The first four are in oak brush. We were thankful for the cattle paths and the relatively low and sparse growth. The last two were in open grassy terrain loaded with goats-head burrs. We were thankful afterwards that no one had locked the gate, locking us in.
