Llano County High Point Trip Report

From TX71, about 3 miles NE of Valley Spring, find a road leading north that connects with FM501. At the Llano-San Saba county line, drive SE on the D C Hillman Ranch road. Find Mrs. Hillman, who lives in the larger of two ranch houses, which is on the left. With permission, drive through a gate, and on SW and W to the hp area with Bee BM. The BM is in a concrete pillar right of the road. Lower Live Oak Mountain is SW.

Mrs Hillman is a lively and friendly lady. When I got there, it was almost dark, so I suggested that I camp, come back, and go to the highpoint in the morning. Mrs. Hillman said fine, I could camp on the ranch in the valley along the entrance road. As I drove up to the gate in the morning, Mrs. Hillman and another lady were returning from the highpoint. As I drove up and took a wrong turn on one of the many grass tracks, Mrs Hillman turned around, caught up with me, and got me on the right track.
