Marion County High Point Trip Report
Date: December 12, 2000
Author: Jobe Wymore
From the junction of 729 and 155 in the center of Rock Island, Texas head east on 155 for 1.2 miles to a
rusted blue gate on the right (south) side of the road. One sign on the gate that simply read "Posted".
Nothing else. Since it didn't say anything else I simply went through the gate and immediately started
walking off to my left towards some power lines. After only going about 150 feet I came across a steel rod
in the ground, about 4 feet tall that was painted white and blue. From there, I broke off uphill to the top
of Marion County which is reached about 3-4 minutes later.
There was a few trees scattered around the summit area but, more like brush. Built a cairn in the summit
vicinity. More than likely not on the true highest point, just where there was more rocks available.
If you're up there you should be able to see it.
