Oldham County High Point Trip Report

From Interstate-40, exit at Gruhlkey Road (exit 18) and proceed to the south side of the road. This is FM-
2858. This road fronts the interstate for a mile then turns south. After 4 miles it turns west. FM-2858
officially ends a half-mile later, and the pavement goes from nice to bad to non-existent. From the end of
the pavement, proceed three more miles west, one mile south, one mile west and park where the road goes
south again.
The highpoint is located a shade over a half-mile north from the road. I followed a fence for a half-mile
and crossed it at a junction with another fence. It's sturdy barbed wire; not easy to squeeze through. I
went over the top. Anyway, the highpoint area is about 200 feet northwest toward a faint rise in the land.
From here, the views out over I-40 are very nice. There are cliffs and little mesas dotting the area.
