Swisher County High Point Trip Report

I approached this from the west along miles of dirt road after trying for Randall County and passing on it
due to it being well-fenced and posted notices. The easier approach would be from the east from the town
of Happy on US-287. Happy sits on the Randall-Swisher county line. Cross north into Randall County
and take the first paved road on the left, which is just a local paved road (some signs called it "Happy
West"). Proceed west; the pavement ends after about 5 miles, then another 3 miles or so brings you to the
junction with South Dowell Road on the right. Stop and park here. On the left (south) side of the road is
an open track to some scattered machinery about a half-mile away. Toward the right (west) of this track is
the highpoint, a fairly noticeable ridge topped by some cattle-related junk.
I walked along the dirt track following a fence line to the machinery, looking for a convenient place to
cross the fence. Eventually I just squeezed through two strands of barbed wire and jogged up about 500
feet to the highpoint and the junk atop it. There were no signs against trespassing.
