Tyler County High Point Trip Report
Date: August 28, 2001
Author: Bill Jacobs
The Tyler cohp is within a two hour drive of Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and is
only two miles distance from the Polk County high point. Both cohps are located within the confines of a
hunting club so beware of becoming prey or the object of hostility during whatever months of the year
Texans take to hunting.
See the Polk County trip report for driving directions. From the Polk cohp, continue east another 2 to 2.5
miles and, using a topographical map for a guide, find the high area about 100 yards off to the right in the
underbrush. Could not locate a distinct high point.
I was unable to gain access to either of these cohps by approaching from the east, H287 (road gated),
or the south, H190 (gated roads and difficulty matching mapped roads with existing road system).
