Beaver County Highpoint Trip Report
Delano Peak (12,169 ft)

We left Beaver at 6:20 am. We followed the great directions given by Darryl Montgomery and Dean Molen
to arrive at Poison Creek. We hiked about 2/3 of the way up the canyon (saw one deer) and up through a
nice chute (no problem here, didn't even have to scramble).
This afforded us a very nice view of a herd of goats.
From the summit, we came off to the north down into the saddle, passing the airplane crash site from
a couple of years ago (four Colorado City, AZ men were killed in a small plane crash agonizingly close to
the summit), and came across the same herd of goats on their way east over the saddle.
They were unalarmed by our presence. We followed the canyon back down to our vehicle, arriving at 8:30 am.
We then drove north over the pass (we saw a very large black bear in the road 2-3 miles beyond the pass)
and followed the Paiute ATV trail (a nice road) down to I-70 southwest of Richfield.
