Morgan County Highpoint Trip Report

Starting at the Fernwood picnic site, we backpacked up to the Great Western Trail and the spring at 8,950 feet to camp. Daylight the next morning found us up and on the move. After a couple of miles, the trail was impossible to follow (in the trees) so we headed straight up (east) to the ridge line and followed it south to Thurston Peak. More great views abounded in the clear skies. I'm really impressed with the beauty of the Wasatch Mountains in winter. The trip out to the truck was uneventful.
