Salt Lake County High Point Trip Report
American Fork Twin Peaks (11,489 ft)
Date: June 29, 2001
Author: Dale Millsap
Parked at Snowbird at 4:30 AM. I ascended to the top of the ski lift in the cirque below the peak then the
ridge line west of the resort. A shorter peak of reddish stone tops off that ridge, and then a short traverse to
the east across a saddle puts you on top of the west and higher Twin. A cairn sits a few feet from the actual
highest piece of rock. Absolutely magnificent views of Timpanogos, Little Matterhorn, Lone Peak, the
other Twin, etc. Sunrise on top is always spectacular. Saw two doe and a two-point buck on the descent.
I cleaned up at home and made it to work by 8:30 AM. This is currently my home county.
