Uintah County Highpoint Trip Report

Accompanied by my brother Carl and my 9-yr-old son Stephen, I followed the
excellent directions given by Mike Schwartz and Andy Martin, as well as the
information provided on summitpost.org, and reached the highest point in Daggett
and Uintah Counties.
The roads were in terrible shape but we were able to drive all the way to the
parking at the dam for Chepeta Lake.
This was the first climbing effort above 10,000 feet for Stephen,
and so it took us a couple of hours to reach the snow-covered plateau.
The snow was solid, however, so it may have actually aided our ascent.
It was a beautiful sunny day (maybe the last real chance to have a non-winter ascent)
and we could see the highest peaks of the Uintahs to the west.
The wind began to pick up as we descended and the clouds began to build for the next
day’s big storm.
