Wasatch County Highpoint Trip Report
liner on Mount Cardwell (10,840 ft)
Date: July 1, 2004

We found that the preferred parking spot was located alongside the road at Bald Mountain Pass just past the
Duchesne/Summit County signs. If you are driving north on U-150, this parking spot is on your right on an
outside curve. From this point, scramble over some rock slabs beside the parking pullout and hike into the trees.
The distance from your vehicle to the highpoint is approximately 0.5 mile. There are a few cairns
located along the way in the trees.
We doubt that anyone will ever agree exactly where the highpoint is located. Once you leave the trees you
will encounter several large cairns located on a broad rocky outcrop which ostensibly mark the
Wasatch County highpoint.
Using our Magellan SporTrac GPS and NAD27 datum we located a spot which registered 10,840 feet at
(508300 E, 4502895 N) near a large flat rock located near a stand of trees.
Your best bet is to do like we did and visit all of the aforementioned "highpoints".
This is a short, 30-minute GPS exercise.
