Wayne County Highpoint Trip Report
Bluebell Knoll (11,328 ft)
Date: August 14, 2004
Author: Dale Millsap
We came in on SR-24 from the east, following the Roach's excellent directions. I must note that we almost
Martinized this one by following a faint set of tracks (probably Andy's tracks from years earlier!) up the
knoll and parked right between the cairn and the boulder at 6:00 pm. We decided we'd had enough for the
day and camped back down in a nice basin about 2000 feet below the plateau.
We enjoyed dinner, a nice fire, cleaned up the area a bit, and then Rik pulled out the DVD player so we
could watch "Starsky and Hutch" before retiring to bed. Now that's roughing it.
The next morning we departed around 7:00 am, retracing our steps until we came to a fork in the road
and a sign indicating Loa was 8 miles on the left fork. The road to Loa was in excellent condition.
We came across a nice group of antelope on our way out.
