Botetourt County Highpoint Trip Report

From the City of Bedford HP [see report], get back onto VA 43 north. Take this to Blue Ridge Parkway at Peaks of Otter. (If you have the money, stay at the lodge there.) Drive south to the AT crossing at mile 76.3 which is not obvious. If you get to a white gate on the right, come back about 100 yards.

Easy walk south on the AT. Interesting rock formation that you actually pass through. Nice views on top. I took the actual HP to be the jumble of rocks with the pulley on the top, but it may be the one closer to the fence (got that one, also).

There is a trail shelter about 0.3 mile north of the mile 76.3 parking area on Blue Ridge Parkway.
