Chesapeake City Highpoint Trip Report
three areas (30+ ft)

Don't even think about this one in the summer. This peak properly needs a "winter assault".
From I-64, exit 289, go south on Greenbriar and right onto Eden Way at the 3rd light.
The point just to the east of the shopping center is probably no longer there. The highest thing in the vicinity
looked to be under an old oak tree but I felt it was too close to the road to be "the" point. Your call.
For the area on the city line, continue along River Birch to the end of the road. There is a sign indicating a
road extension is planned. Should make life easier. Follow Chip Clark's directions along the edge of the
woods to the dirt track heading in the generally proper direction. Very muddy and obviously a local ATV course.
Eventually you will have to bushwhack to the fence. I found Mike Schwartz's point
(36° 47' 20.6" N, 76° 12' 40.1" W) and thought the highest ground was about 3 feet inside the fence.
Missed the dirt road on the way back so had to bushwhack all the way. Briars and bamboo. Bummer.
As an aside, if someone could figure a way in from the Virginia Beach side, this might become almost trivial.
The southern area lives only in the memory of cartographers. It is gone.
