Hopewell City Highpoint Trip Report
seven areas (90+ feet)

Don Desrosiers' report made this a lot easier but Hopewell requires considerable
wandering to feel confident of having covered all the high ground.
No comment on areas 1 and 2.
Area 3, the large contour at Cedar Levels, requires lots of riding/walking to
explore its subtle terrain. I found all the areas that Don considered
candidates for high ground. I liked "Smithfield near Cedar Level Road".
I also liked the "Side yard of 3420 Surry Avenue", which is actually 3420 Woodlawn Avenue.
There is a low ridge in this area running between and parallel to
Oaklawn and Woodlawn. Note also that the area "behind small parking lot on
Sycamore near Westlawn" should refer to Western, rather than Westlawn.
I also found a fair amount of relief at the end of the protuberance that extends
into the large development south of the words, "Cedar Level" on the topo.
The east-west street inside the contour (didn't write down the name) has high ground
at #3908 and the carport of #3910.
Area 4. I thought high ground was between the corner house, #404, and the next
house at #3205 Franklin, either at the driveway or boundary fence.
Area 5. References to Jefferson Farms should read Jackson Farm. I wandered
around quite a bit trying get closer to this one and agree with Don that I-295
has obliterated it.
Area 6. I needed to make a pit stop and thus scrambled up the embankment
mentioned by Don. There is a fairly imposing fence that must be negotiated to
reach the cell phone tower but I thought the ground in the pine thicket was as
high as anything around. The whole area has been disturbed, so do your best.
Area 7. History.
