The Priest
Dale Millsap and Ryan Bowles give good directions. Not certain I would take a low slung vehicle up 826.
Otherwise, the trail and HPs are easy to find. Walk around on top until satisfaction is accomplished.
On the "too bad" meter, just before you get to the blue-blazed trail to the shelter on The Priest,
there is a wonderful finger of rock about 20 feet high to the right of the trail.
It is too bad that is not the HP. Much more dramatic than reality.
Maintop
If I had paid more attention to the map rather than trying this one out of the cob-webbed recesses of my brain,
I would have gotten this one in June. Unfortunately, I ran out of time when I decided to come up
from the north on the AT. Alas. In August, I followed the directions and got there. I measured 690 as
being 0.3 mile from Montebello but otherwise the directions given work quite well. Easy enough walk.
Well signed. Someone has built a cairn at the top. Definitely go to Spy Rock. It is only 5 minutes out of
you way and the views are great (best on AT going north until Killington). Best trail up is to the left.
