Norton City Highpoint Trip Report

I had been wanting to hike to the Norton HP since ascertaining its location last year.

The most succinct directions would be to exit US 23 onto VA 619 (road to High Knob). Go south and up 3.8 miles and turn left onto FS 238. Go another mile and turn left onto FS 238C. Drive 0.7 mile to a gate on left before road drops down to right. I followed the Forest Service road past the gate a few hundred yards to the saddle and turned left up the ridge on an abandoned logging road. Near the highpoint of the ridge is a large hardwood tree with red blazes.

I'm not sure the highpoint is at the boundary of the logged area but that is the assumption. (The USGS topo leads me to believe that the boundary is down the ridge toward the saddle but who knows?)
