Parked at the Upper Hawksbill Parking area (mile 46.7) because the last time I went up the other way.
Easy walk on well graded trail. There were rangers on top watching peregrine falcon chicks (this is a
reintroduction area for them) so the area southwest of the shelter is closed. HP was obvious.
There are new mileage signs that show the mileage from the top to the lower parking area is the same as to
the upper area. Seem to recall they were close enough.
55 minute round-trip (easily).
