From I-81 take exit 137 and go south about 1/2 mile on Wildwood Drive. Go right (west) onto West Main
Street/US 11; take left at Diuguids Lane and left again at 0.2 mile onto West Riverside Drive. Go right onto
12 O'Clock Knob Road and zero odometer. Fork left at 1.0 mile; bear left onto Mowles Road/CR 73 at 1.2 miles;
continue past sign for "end state maintenance" to 2.1 miles at dead end. Park at a white concrete
house owned by Jason, where you will be greeted by Mooch the cat, several dogs, and a watch goose, all of
which are friendly! The back door is on the side near a satellite dish, and the "front" door faces downhill
with a nice view. Jason was very cordial and had no problem with my parking and hiking from there.
From the house, the highpoint is downhill/northeast along a ridge line. Walk to the right of telephone pole
#275 98, the nearest to where you park, looking for a faint use path heading north. Aim for the right corner
of the small stand of evergreens, from where a use path penetrates the stand and goes north down the ridge line.
See a green wooden stake and orange ribbon at what I took to be the county/city line. I walked further
down the ridge line and verified the presence of the saddle and slight rise to spot elevation 1392 feet.
On my return, I zeroed the odometer at the junction of 12 O'Clock Knob Road and Riverside Drive,
went left onto Riverside,
then right onto Mill Lane at 0.8 mile, crossed the river, went left onto W. Main Street at 1.2 miles,
right onto Wildwood at 2.0 miles, then north to I-81. This seemed easier and shorter.
