Drove up I-81 to exit 45, took VA 16 south to county 658 past village of Comers Rock to US 21. North on US 21 to Dry Run Gap and W on Hales Lake Road (dirt) 4.1 miles to Comers Rock, which you can climb up on with steps.

Back on US 21 it is 18.2 miles to I-81 at Exit 70.
