Essex County High Point Trip Report

As noted in earlier reports, there are 2 gates on this road when coming in from Gallop Mills. The first one is
almost immediately after turning onto Radar Road. This gate was locked when we arrived but we managed
to finagle our way in with some property in-holders who happened to arrive while we were pondering the situation.
They told us that the gate is usually locked until sometime in June (after mud season), after which
time it is open.
The 2nd gate was locked and we were informed that it always stays locked. The only sign there said "Foot
Traffic Only" (there are no negative trespassing signs). It is correct that the road is paved and could be
driven to the top. The top of this mountain is weirdly trashed with big old military radar installation
buildings, hangers, etc...
Round trip from 2nd gate: 8 miles, 1600 feet.
