Columbia County High Point Trip Report
Oregon Butte (6,387 ft)
Date: June 30, 1991
Author: John Roper
USGS Oregon Butte. DeLorme: p42/D3. S4-T7N-41E.
This is the "highest peak in SE Washington"
and the Washington Blue Mountains. The summits here are simply bumps on high ridges.
It's the grand-canyon valleys that drop from the ridges that make this part of the
state noteworthy. Drive SE out of Dayton, to Eckler Mtn Road to FS Road 46 to
Godman Campground, then east to the end of FS Road 4608. A 3-mile trail-hike
accesses the summit, which sports a little red lookout house.
