Skagit County Highpoint Trip Report
Buckner Mountain (9,112 feet)
Date: July 28, 1968
Author: John Roper
USGS Goode Mtn. DeLorme: p98/A1. S28-T35N-R15E.
The map shows the HP as the NE summit, though most climbers stop at the easier 9080+ SW summit,
happy that the guidebook fudges this point up to "est. 9114 feet."
The easiest route is from Horseshoe Basin which can be accessed by a downclimb
from Sahale Arm (via potentially dangerous loose blocks of snow in mid-summer)
or an upclimb through a spectacular waterfall-headwall from Stehekin River/Basin Creek.
