Kenosha County High Point Trip Report

From the Lake County IL high point, Gander Mountain, retrace to IL 173 and go west almost two miles to a right (north) onto Zarinstorf Road. One mile north turn right onto State Line Road and see the orchard to the north shown on the topo. The high point is actually east of the orchard and is an obvious knob in a field planted to squash.

WARNING: The orchard is heavily posted, and I got caught by a hunter who apparently observed me from a stand. He was mightily upset and was about ready to take me to the owner at gun point, but when I told him my story, he finally relented and let me make an undignified exit. I would strongly suggest contacting the owner before visiting this one, and avoiding hunting season. Since I wanted to get away as soon as possible, I did not push the issue by asking the owner's name.
