Wood County High Point Trip Report
Powers Bluff
Date: July 27, 2003
Author: Doug Urban
I have climbed Powers Bluff over 50 times this year in preparation for a Mount Rainier climb in August 2003.
I usually start my hike at the intersection of County Trunk E and Bluff Road (elevation 1,173 ft)
and hike through the park to the summit of 1,473 ft. I then hike out of the park down to Bethel Road
(1,209 ft) and then return on the same route. The total hike is about 6 miles. I carry a 50 pound backpack
while hiking.
I have greatly enjoyed the beauty and changing seasons while hiking Powers Bluff since last December.
Powers Bluff Park is biologically diverse and is known for its wildflowers and variety of plant species.
It has been a great place to prepare for my Mount Rainier climb.
