Preston County Highpoint Trip Report

We parked just off of US 219 on Right Fork Lead Mine Run Road (shown on topo).
Just across 219 was a gated Forest Service road with a very friendly sign that
started with "Foot Travel Welcome". We took this good trail/dirt road uphill to
just below the 3200 foot level and took another good trail/dirt road uphill
toward the obvious wind turbines. At about the point where you are even with
the northernmost turbine, bushwhack uphill about 150 yards to the obvious HP,
just about due east of the northernmost turbine.
It might be possible to continue south on 219 to the crest of the ridge,
at which point the access road for the turbines intersects. The road was gated and
posted but it was also paved and flat. According to a friend who monitors wind farms,
the state of WV also has a pull-out and display at the southern end of the turbines.
