Preston County Highpoint Trip Report
on Backbone Mtn (3,400+ feet)
Date: June 23, 2007

I followed Don's report once again and found my way to the top. While the sound
of the turbines is pretty obvious, with full foliage, you can't see them until
you bash through the last few feet of vines, thorns, and ferns.
My GPS and a visual put the HP about 150 yards southwest of the northernmost turbine,
not east as per Don's report. Either way, the summit has been pretty
well scalped and leveled by the wind farm and the topo has not been updated,
so a good faith wandering is in order on both sides of the clearing to get the HP.
