Ritchie County High Point Trip Report
Date: December 5, 2001

From WV 74, 7 1/2 miles northeast of Pennsboro or 1.6 miles west of the Ritchie/Tyler County line,
zero your odometer and go north onto CR 2. Bear slightly left at 0.4 mile onto CR 2-1, and reach a junction with
CR 2-4 at 1.5 miles. That is the track road shown on the topo heading southwest and west up the hollow to
the northwest of the highpoint and did not appear suitable for passenger cars.
I parked at the junction, walked a short distance up CR 2-4 past cows in pasture, then bushwhacked south
to the ridge line. From there I followed an assortment of use paths, woods roads, and bushwhacks west,
along or just below the crest, keeping track of intermediate knobs, all the way to the summit.
There are generic postings and fence lines in various states of repair at various points along the ridge.
Saw no hunting stands. Round trip took an hour.
I lost my black Casio digital watch (no band) somewhere on this hike.
