Weston County High Point Trip Report
state line (6,620 ft)
Date: July 21, 2002

For Weston Co WY, we arrived about 8:40 at night, and did it in dusk, largely from memory. We drove 1.8
miles from the SD line into WY on US 85 to FR 809. Here we turned right and went east on a good gravel road,
winding and climbing steeply for a bit to the state line at 2.0 miles. We got out of the cars at 2.5 miles.
Here, you skirt 2 small knolls as you walk west about 0.3 mile to the state line. There is a lot of downed
trees here from logging operations. Once you reach the fence at the line, gain the high ground, and look for
a cairn with a coke can register by Dick Ellsworth.
We forgot to sign in, in the dark. We did up the ante on the fence post. I had banged in a nickel years ago,
John Mitchler had banged in a dime last year, and Kevin Williamson stuck in a new Louisiana quarter.
Next one here needs to bring a Ben Franklin!
