“The end of a continuing saga”

With peculiar Pellegrini syntax, Dave called in at 9 pm last night from the United gate at Anchorage to report that all members of TZT should be home by this morning. “We have survived the mountain, our gear has not.”

Reflecting on Saturday’s difficulties with getting off the glacier airstrip, Dave speculates that “several thousand dollars worth of gear was left behind.” It is not known when or if they’ll get it back though the air shuttle service has promised to forward the gear to Denver.

“We’re looking forward to warm weather. Really warm weather.”

(A note about this website: temporary by intent, the URL will remain available through the week in the event TZT has (finally) actual photos from the expedition that can be added to the gallery and in the event the team wishes to include a post-mortem on the expedition.)

(There was no winner in the t-shirt contest from the June 21st dispatch. The photo reference was to “Super Dave” Osborne, a character created by Bob Einstein who appeared on a variety of TV shows from the 70s through the 90s and in Nike commercials.)
