General Information
Birth: July 12 1960, Detroit Michigan USAI have one brother, Dale, a year older than myself. He is a neurologist with a home in Pebble Beach near Monterey in Central California. His wife Dana, appears with him in the clickable photograph on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. I maintain an electronic family album.
My two parents live at Encino in the San Fernando Valley just north of Los Angeles. My father, now retired, was a physician at Kaiser Permanentee with subspecialties in Nuclear Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. My mother has a Masters degree in the humanities and has taught high school English. She is a certified flight instructor (CFII), with multiengine, commercial, floatplane and balloon ratings. She was once the owner and operator of a flight school at Van Nuys Airport.
My parents are observant Jews. This background has greatly influenced my moral and ethical principles.
I am obsessed with mountain climbing. and, to a similar degree (yet perhaps as a commoner pursuit), with the preparation and enjoyment of food. I am webmaster for the county highpointers; and have written extensively about climbing - including a published book on how mountains are sized-up relative to each other using objective metrics.

Organizational Affiliations
Ultimate Climbing Objective
To scale Denali (Mount McKinley, Alaska, 20,320 feet) by the West Buttress route. Although this route is technically of moderate difficulty, Denali is notorious for life threatening weather including temperatures well below zero F and winds often above 100 MPH, even in the middle of June when the sun shines for 22 hours and it never really gets dark.
Currently there are twenty tiers stacked as a triangular pyramid and composed of 1,540 pints. As of April 6, 2005 I have enjoyed 1,598 pints of ice cream (some as novelties and quart, half-gallon sizes) since November 1987.
Since roughly 2005 I have abandoned "growing" the pyramid as any more tiers will preclude entry in my bedroom. Accumulated, emptied pints sit unceremoniously in a pile behind the pyramid, and as assorted mini-pyramids throughout the condominium.
