Effort Required

These lists give recognition to highpointers who have climbed mountains that are technically demanding and/or require considerable physical effort based upon total elevation gain. Total elevation gain is the only satisfactory metric for generating these lists since other types of elevation gain (i.e. net gain, etc...) combine considerations beyond sheer muscular effort as the rationale for their specific definitions.
