“Denali awaits for our return”

Wednesday, 4:20 pm Denali time -- Dave Pellegrini reports that TZT has made a team decision that “at 17,200 ft we are as high as we’re going to go.” With a calm and assured voice Dave reports that the climb up the headwall was beautiful and “we’re looking down at wonderful clouds into a Santa Fean-type picture.”

“Time constraints are forcing us to this decision. The window is just too tight. Our spirits are good but our bodies are tired. From here it’s all downhill. Denali awaits our return.”

Today the team will descend to 14,000 or 11,000 ft depending on conditions. Reports are that the backlog of climbers at Kahiltna Glacier is no longer an issue and they should be able to get a prompt flight back to Talkeetna.
